Nashville - 6

Sunday 3, July 2011
From Mike
Today we visited the ‘Grand Ole Opry’ in Music Valley. This is the legendary country music stage show which started out on radio back in 1925 and continues today.
Membership is by invitation only and includes our own Keith URBAN (okay, okay – I know he was born a kiwi).
The tour includes a backstage visit to the stars dressing rooms and you get to walk on the famous circle of stage taken from the original venue in Nashville (eat ya heart out Mr BRUNDELL!!).
Our particular tour was led by a young woman who had the most engaging southern drawl.

Also today, while diligently working out in the hotel gym, I watched part of the summing up by the defense in the Casey ANTHONY trial. (http://galvestondailynews.com/ap/0ba4c9/ ).
Not sure what coverage you are getting on this in Oz, but this trial has transfixed the nation here. It is constantly on TV (I think the whole trial has been televised) and seems to have been since we arrived on June 1. It revolves around a young woman,  who has been charged in Orlando, Florida with murdering her 2 year old daughter. What appears to make the matter so emotionally captivating for the Americans is that this lady is alleged to have killed the child, placed the body in the boot of her car and then proceeded to fabricate a web of lies to cover the missing child; all the while leading a party life existence. I have to admit that like the Americans, I am fascinated to know if she will be convicted by the jury.
