Memphis

Sunday 26th, Monday 27th & Tuesday 28th June 2011

Memphis, home of Graceland....and much more.

We did well with this one. Greyhound bus station was around 100metres from the hotel, and the hotel was just around the corner from the major entertainment area.
On the trolley

We checked out the local area by taking a ride around town in the trolley (tram) which cost only $1 for us both.

Sussed out the local shops….lucky….Mike suffered a thong blow out and needed new ones.

Beale Street is the place to be. Live music, clubs, bars, restaurants etc. A bit like New Orleans but on a slightly smaller scale.

We visited several including BB Kings and the Blues City Café. Lots of music to choose from.

Beale Street
The receptionist at our hotel, the Vista , was most helpful in advising us where to go to eat.

She suggested the Blues City Café for dinner on our first night and both food and entertainment was great.

The ribs were recommended and totally delicious….melted in the mouth. Nice and spicy too. Apparently they are a popular dish here and I can see why.

Photos taking ages to load today.......More from Memphis to come........
